We are pleased to announce that students from Wootton Bassett School of Dance have qualified to represent England at the Dance World Cup 2022.
This will be taking place in San Sebastian, Spain, from 24th June until 2nd July.
We have dancers competing across the junior and senior sections.
The DWC is an exciting opportunity for all dancers to compete against 62 countries. Following the same format as the Olympics, the country with the highest medals tally is crowned World Champion.
We will be holding fundraising events over the coming months to raise money towards covering some of the costs involved in entering this competition.
After an uncertain couple of years, our students are very excited to participate in this competition.
To help us achieve our goal we would appreciate any donation large or small.
The Dance World Cup takes place from 24th June to 2nd July in San Sebastian, Spain. The event was first held in Germany in 2004.
Representing England will be 26 dancers from Wootton Bassett School of Dance who will compete across the junior and senior sections.
Vicky Lawrence from Wootton Bassett School of Dance said: “We are fundraising to reach our target of covering our entry costs, which amounts to £3,000, and so this sponsorship is very welcome.
“The high costs mean we only try to qualify every two years and with Covid19 preventing us from travelling in 2020, it has been four years since we last competed at the finals. The girls are all very excited.”
Competitors from 62 countries, aged from four to 25-years-old, will compete across multiple disciplines.
“Following the same format as the Olympics, the country with the highest medal tally will be crowned World Champions. At last year’s event, held in Telford, the English team took the title.
