Wotton Bassett School of Dance!
Last year our dancers smashed it! They qualified in 15 dances, one of our soloists became World Champion, duets and teams wining silver, & bronze medals and special awards. This year they have hit new hights qualifying in an astonishing 27 dances across; solos, duets, trios and groups to compete at the Dance World Cup 2024, in Prague next June and July.
This year, the qualifiers have been a record breaking year. So much so, that Team England had to increase the entries to the top 5, where you had to score over 70%. So this is an incredible achievement. Some of our dancers achieved remarkable scores during their qualification for Team England, some scoring over 90%. With only 5 places available per age group and genre, this puts their achievement into perspective.
The Dance World Cup is considered the pinnacle for dance, as the largest all-genre international dance competition with 65 countries and 20,000 dancers competing for their country at the World Finals. To be selected as the top five dancers in your country is such an accolade that makes us extremely proud!
As with competing in any sport, this comes at a cost. Our intention is to provide the whole team with the financial support that they need which includes entry fees, uniforms & costumes as well as contributions to other essentials that will allow these dancers to achieve their dreams of competing on the World stage!
Everything raised will be used to make this opportunity become a reality for these dancers who have been so dedicated and worked so hard to qualify. Any contribution is welcome. We will be holding more fundraising events throughout the next few months in the lead-up to the event, during which we will share updates and information with you all.
If you are a local business or know of anyone that may be interested in sponsorship of our wonderful dancers please do get in contact. We will print our sponsor’s Names and Logos on our Team England tracksuits which the dancers will wear with pride! The dancers will wear these at the World Cup and all local and regional competitions around the South West in the lead-up to the DWC. Along our journey, we will provide you with updates our progress and following the event.
We are grateful of any support you are able to give our dancers.
